Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System

WREGIS is an independent, web-based tracking system for renewable energy certificates (REC), predominantly in the West. WREGIS is a division of WECC.

WECC’s Board of Directors (Board) instructed WECC’s management to gather stakeholder feedback on recommended corporate structure and governance for WREGIS as a stand-alone entity. WECC’s management recommends the following: establishing WREGIS as a 501(c)(4) non-profit with a hybrid board of directors and a stakeholder advisory group. Full details of the recommendation are available here.

WECC invites stakeholders to comment on the recommendation. The comment period will close on August 29, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. All submitted comments will be posted publicly on wecc.org and shared with WECC’s Board at its September meeting.

Announcements


As previously announced, WECC and CleanCounts (f/k/a M-RETS) operating agreement ends on December 31, 2027 and CleanCounts has opted not to extend the agreement beyond this date. Please see the attached announcement for an update and plan for moving forward.
