As previously announced, WECC and CleanCounts (f/k/a M-RETS) have an agreement under which CleanCounts provides software services to support WREGIS, the web-based tracking system for renewable energy certificates (REC), predominantly in the West. As we informed stakeholders on May 1, this agreement ends on December 31, 2027, and CleanCounts has opted not to extend the agreement beyond this date.
At the direction of the WECC Board of Directors, WECC will issue an RFP to third-party software developers for the development of custom software to meet the needs of WREGIS and its customers and stakeholders; and WECC will explore separation of WREGIS from WECC, establishing WREGIS as an independent company focused solely upon meeting the needs of its customers, stakeholders, and programs in the West.
WECC will host a virtual Town Hall on July 28 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Mountain. Please join us as we provide a status update and present the recommended corporate structure and governance for the stand-alone WREGIS. A comment period on the corporate structure and governance recommendation will be held from August 1 to 29. This town hall is also intended to provide a forum to answer stakeholder questions and receive feedback.
While this town hall is open to the public, to help us effectively use the time available, we encourage you to send questions in advance to [email protected]. Additionally, a Frequently Asked Questions document has been posted on wecc.org and will be updated to reflect new questions posed during the town hall.
