This course is hosted in two sequential sessions, offering a holistic overview and explanation of the electric system, how it is operated and regulated, and why. We will review the technology, operation, and markets of a modern reliable power grid. The changes in technology and risks to the grid will also be discussed.

  • Electric Grid – Generation, “The Power Grid”, Transformers/Substations, Transmission/Distribution, and Loads

Day Two

  • BPS Disturbances
  • Reliability
  • Compliance Oversight
  • Reliability and Markets
  • Risks – Operational, Cyber, and Physical
  • System Operations
