Why do Geographic Locations Matter?

Understanding where resources are being built in relation to load pockets (where the energy will be served) is important to study. The farther away resources are from load pockets, the more transmission is needed to serve the load. Greater distances can cause constraints on power lines, and the longer the lines, the more problems can arise, keeping the electricity from reaching the demand.

Page Tips:

Different layers can be turned on in the map.

Selecting the population density layer will show the relative location of resources to load pockets.

The map can display the building of resources through time by selecting the clock button located at the top right of the map. A time slider will appear at the bottom of the map. The slider can be used manually or can be played to see the progression of resource build-up. Different speeds can be set to speed up or slow down the visuals.
